Korina Emmerich presents Material Lineages at The MET

Material Lineages 2027-2028
Material Lineages marks Emmerich’s transition from fashion designer to multidisciplinary artist, born from the wreckage of personal upheaval, and an industry that demands more than it gives. The saved scraps from a decade of past collections became a reflection of Emmerich’s own fractured reality. Rooted in Indigenous values of no waste, the project refuses fashion’s relentless cycle of production, extraction, consumption and disposability. Reclaiming the freedom to make art without the pressure to sell, scale, or produce endlessly. A practice of memory, survival, and reinvention by piecing together what remains to build something entirely new.
